All three options use the same total-return assumption. Distributions are deducted from the fund value, never added as an extra return. Cash payouts are held without interest.
All terminal fund values are BEFORE redemption tax and exit loads. Distribution taxes alone are modelled, using your effective rate. This is not an after-tax recommendation between options.

BEHIND THE NUMBERS
How this calculation works
For each period, the fund grows at (1 + annual return)^(1 / periods per year) − 1. The assumed distribution is a fraction of the period’s opening fund value, capped at available assets.
Growth retains the whole return. IDCW payout removes the gross distribution and holds the after-tax proceeds as zero-interest cash. IDCW reinvestment adds back the after-tax distribution, so the effective reduction is the assumed tax.
The chart compares fund plus accumulated cash for the payout option with fund value for the other options. All remaining fund balances are before redemption taxes and exit loads; acquisition lots, exemptions, actual tax law and TDS are not simulated.
A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS
Before you make a plan
The payout comes from the scheme’s assets. It is not extra return on top of an unchanged NAV. Reinvestment buys units with the distribution instead of leaving the money as cash.
No. It isolates distribution-tax drag under equal total returns. Sale taxes and investor-specific exemptions are excluded, so use the result to understand mechanics, not as a final after-tax recommendation.
