BEHIND THE NUMBERS
The monthly contribution rises by the selected percentage after each completed year. Month 13 uses the first increase. Each payment is invested at the beginning of the month.
The schedule adds each contribution and compounds it monthly. An increased contribution is a bigger commitment, not additional investment return.
Returns are treated as effective annual rates. Monthly rate = (1 + annual rate)^(1/12) − 1.
This model uses a constant return. Actual market values fluctuate and can fall. Tax, inflation and exit loads are excluded unless explicitly shown. Use a return assumption net of ongoing fund expenses; do not deduct those expenses twice.
A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS
No. It is a contribution pattern. The underlying fund still determines your market exposure and risk.
This illustration applies an increase after every 12 payments. Check the actual step-up facility and dates offered by your chosen platform or fund.
